What do you say about Mixx.com? It’s only a couple months old. Has a small, but growing, community. It’s very similar to digg, but with a refreshing usability. oh…and it has a picture section!
In fact, Mixx is so new that only a small percentage of diggers are even using Mixx. The diggers that have signed up for accounts on Mixx, half of them hardly use them. Which brings up an interesting dilema.
Can I copy and paste somebody else’s Digg submit, and submit it as my own on Mixx? Would that be considered plagiarism? unethical?
To specify, most diggers don’t have an account on Mixx, so would it be wrong for me to duplicate their content & submits onto Mixx? Use the same title, same description. Same everything.
I mean… I didn’t find the story. I didn’t write the title or description. Even though, most of the time, people just copy and paste the first paragraph and heading. So, would I be in the wrong for just copying & pasting the content from Digg to Mixx?
Do you think the Digg Submitter would mind that I basically hijacked their post and used it as my own on another site? Or do you think that they probably won’t care, because the true intent of social media, is to share content with others… right?

I don’t think that submitting an article found on Digg would offend anyone. And copying and pasting a snippet from said article shouldn’t, either, because people understand that it’s just an excerpt, with no real claim of authorship on your part. But copying someone else’s intro, when they’ve gone to the trouble to write one, then claiming it as your own? No offense is intended, but I, personally, think that’s crossing an ethical line.
